Palin (the smart one)

Today’s quote – “Is there some ongoing contest for Republican politician who can say the stupidest thing?” category

A nation that raises its children in government schools cannot expect its people to stand for the principles of freedom.    Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC)

A true flower of enlightenment, the Senator.   Scouth Carolinans must thank God daily that he’s their rep in the Senate rather than some other type of “American” (hah!) with really bad ideas about public schooling, like these pinko elitist non-patriots, for instance…

From the beginning, American statesmen had insisted upon the necessity of education to a republic.  George Washington, in his Farewell Address, urged the people to promote “institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge.”  To the degree that the form of government gave force to public opinion, Washington argued, “it is essential that public opinion should bge enlightened.”  The aging Jefferson warned in 1816: “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”   The young Lincoln, making his first appeal to a constituency, told the voters of Sanagamon County in 1832 that education was “the most important subject which we as a people can be engaged in.” (from Anti-Intellectualism in American Life, Richard Hofstadter, p. 299-230)

Those must be someone else’s books in that photo.  The question is, why did he have his photo taken with them?

Sen. David Vitter (the married family values guy who got busted for humping hookers) now wants to cut family planning funds from the budget

Yeah.  He does.

What’s up here, it seems, is that he’s facing a possible primary challenge from Tony Perkins from the very conservative Family Research Council, so he’s trying to pump up his social conservative bona fides.

The party of principle.  Sheesh.

Stocks up sharply today. Limbaugh attributes the rise to Obama fiscal policies.

No. That didn’t happen.

The 2010 proposed rate of 39.60% = socialism.
The 2002-2008 rates of 35.00% = capitalist nirvana.
The 39.6% rate of the 1990’s = socialism.
Everything else = down the memory hole.

That Obama fellow sure is soaking the rich, isn’t he?

Do you need to apologize to Rush Limbaugh? Not sure just what to say? Want to stand out in the crowd (but not too far out)? Well, now it is simpler than ever. Just turn on the Republican Apology Machine.

Jim Cramer

Some of you are likely familiar with this guy.   He’s a cable news money show screamer who has been getting some press and face time on news shows lately, partuclarly as a consequence of his claims that Obama is destroying people’s wealth in the stock market.

Credible guy?  Not so much.
